(prensa.com) Officials with transit authority ATTT reported that record numbers of vehicles headed to the interior for Carnival celebrations this weekend.
The agency reported that about 40,000 vehicles passed through La Chorrera on Friday and more than 70,000 passed through that area on Saturday. This is about 40,000 more vehicles than during Carnival weekend last year.
Officials have reported few problems with the increase in traffic. There was a fatal accident in Colón where a person was killed when two vehicles collided in the district of Las Margaritas. There were also four people injured in an accident in Penonomé.
Police reported that a number of people were arrested on outstanding warrants at checkpoints. Police checked licenses using the “pele police.”
Authorities reported a person was stabbed during festivities in Pedasi and a person was injured after falling at festivities in Las Tablas.
