(prensa.com) A suspected courier for the guerrilla organization FARC was arrested on Feb. 23 while carrying $190,000 in the Darién.
The suspect was captured by border patrol agents in the town of Jaqué. News of the arrest was delayed for several weeks so officials could determine the authenticity of the money.
The suspect was identified as Esmelin Rodríguez. The money was allegedly hidden in the false bottom of a suitcase. It is suspected that the money was going to be used to purchase equipment for the guerrillas and make payments to collaborators.
Two years ago, three suspected guerrillas were captured in Jaqué while carrying $200,000.
