(prensa.com) Minister of Public Works Federico Suárez said that work on the access road to the Centenario Bridge could be finished as early as August.
The official indicated that the work is progressing at a good pace, and 163 pilings that will reinforce the access road have already been installed.
The access road collapsed in December due to damage from heavy rainfalls. Suárez said that the repairs will address that problem, because the pilings will be more stable than the fill previously used to support the road.
The minister did not provide any details about the cost of the project. He did say, however, that the ministry is awaiting a final report on the reasons for the collapse of the road. That report could be used to file a claim against the original contractor.
The construction has caused long waits at the Bridge of the Americas, especially since there is currently construction on the road leading from that bridge to the interior.
