(NewsroomPanama) Petaquilla Minerals, a Canadian owned company that operates the Molejon gold mine in Colon, has raised its gold production from 6,500 ounces in October to 8,562 ounces in November.
That puts the company’s annual production rate at102, 744 ounces at an average price of $1,335 dollars an ounce.
In August, the mine was forced to halt production, as tubtailings reached record levels, threatening to spill contaminated water.
The company also opened two lawsuits maintain to prevent the National Environmental Authority(Anam) from imposing two fines totaling $1.9 million as compensationfor alleged environmental damage caused during the construction phase.
