(prensa.com) Panama’s economic activity rose by 8.06% in September over the same month of 2009, driven by telecommunications and port sector, the government said Wednesday.
The Panamanian economy was faced with the global recession better than most Latin American countries, and heads to record strong growth this year, supported by multimillion expansion of the Panama Canal.
The Panamanian government expects economic growth close to 7% this year. The free trade zone in Panama’s Caribbean coast, the construction sector and tourism also contributed to the growth of economic activity, the government said in its report.
