(Prensa.com) Panama’sĀ 2011-2012 cruise ship season is taking shape, with one line cutting back on its departures next year.
Royal Caribbean’s Grandeur of the Seas will return for dates starting in October, while Pullmantur will use a new ship, Horizon, that has a slightly larger capacity (1,828 passengers) than the ship it used last year, Ocean Dream, (1,422 passengers.)
Pullmantur, however, will shorten itsĀ season in Panama toĀ five months, namely OctoberĀ to February, and not nine months like last year. Alfredo Singh, marketing manager for Pullmantur in Panama, said the decision to use the larger ship resulted in the decision to shorten the season.
Olga Jimenez, president and CEO of Grand Tours, the Royal Caribbean International representative in Panama, noted that they have confirmed the 2012-2013 season, but tickets for those cruises are not yet on sale.
The cruise line is hoping to duplicate last year’s success, when it reachedĀ 100 percent occupancy.
The line is hoping to schedule charter flights from some South American countries to ensure a steady flow of passengers.
