(prensa.com) Panamanian boxer, Shantal “La Fiera” Martínez, announced yesterday that she has intensified her training to dispute the interim featherweight title of the World Boxing Association (WBA), to be held this coming Apr. 2 in Panama, against the Trinidad-born Canadian Lisa “Bad News” Brown.
The 20-year-old Martínez, boasting a track record of 12-4, 5 KO, is renowned for her solid punch. Speaking to RPC Radio, the athlete said her 40-year-old Caribbean rival (18 -4, 5 KO and three draws), has “no merit” to win the women’s title.
“La Fiera”, who defeated Colombian Ángela “La Diva” Marciales and Venezuelan Ogleidis “La Niña” Suárez to get to this point, said she is confident going into this next match-up, having watched several videos of Brown’s previous fights.
Martínez trains at the Pedro “Rockero” Alcázar gym, located in Curundú, Panama City, and promised to be in good shape for the coming battle, which she described as a “great opportunity” for her sports career.
The fight will be held at the Roberto Durán Arena.
