(prensa.com) The wholesale price index (WPI) in Panama increased by 3.7 percent in September 2010, as compared to the same month in 2009. This, according to a report released yesterday by the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC) of the Comptroller General of the Republic.
As per the results evaluated, there was a price increase in the three sectors that form the foundation of the WPI: Import (5.8 percent); Agriculture (3.3 percent); and Industrial (1.3 percent).
Official data on inflation shows a 2.7 percent increase in the cumulative percentage variation, when comparing the WPI in September 2010 to that of December 2009.
INEC’s report also confirmed a 1.2 percent increase in the WPI from June to September this year.
