(NewsroomPanama) Canadians are visiting Panama in increasing numbers.
In the first nine months of 2010 numbers were up by 50 percent to 38,000 compared with the same period last year.
The percentage increase was exceeded only by travelers from Spain (up 60 percent) to 25,000).Visitors from the US were up 14 percent.
There was a decline in visitors from Mexico, Venezuela, El Salvador and Germany. The decline in Mexican tourists was attributed to the closure of Mexicana de Aviación airlines, which reduced the availability of seats to Panama.
Tocumen International Airport remains the main port of entry for tourists Panama. Between January and September of this year, 858,000 visitors entered the country through the facility, 10 percent more than for the period last year.
