Panama to reach the goal of 2 million visitors in 2011

08/12/2011 By Panama Eric

(Prensa.com) Panama in December 2011 will reach the goal of two million visitors, due to the projection of that country as a tourist destination, predicted Thursday the Panamanian Minister of Tourism, Solomon Shamah.

Shamah said the strong publicity campaigns in the United States, Europe, Asia and Latin America have contributed effectively to attract more tourists to Panama, calling it “multi spectacular country.”

He stressed that the Internet and cyberspace are the new tools of global marketing, so that the Panamanian authorities are banking on social networks to disseminate information on sites and locations.

The official ruled that the tourism and hotel industry in this country is affected by an outbreak of dengue hemorrhagic or international crisis. He acknowledged that “America is going through a bad time” in its economy, but called the incident of “passenger”.

The income generated by tourism in this country exceeded $ 676 million billion in 2010. It is expected that in 2011 tourism contributed more than 10% the formation of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Panama, in conjunction with advertising, building hotels and resorts in several provinces, and cruise ships.
