(prensa.com) Andrés Rodríguez, secretary general of the Panama Teachers Association, said yesterday that educators have no plans to call a general strike at the beginning of the school year.
“Today, we will be in our classrooms because it is our responsibility,” said Rodriguez.
However, he added that there is “much displeasure” among teachers due to the way the Ministry of Education is handling certain issues leading up to the opening of school. He said they wish to establish better communication with Minister of Education Lucy Molinar, saying she makes too many decisions behind closed doors.
The school year will open today and will run through Dec. 23.
