(prensa.com) Taiwan and Panama will strengthen ties in 2011 by cooperating in the areas of education and maritime services, said Taiwanese Ambassador to Panama Simón Ko.
The diplomat stressed that, in 2011, more than 50 Panamanian students will receive scholarships to travel to universities and training centers in Taiwan to explore careers related to maritime engineering, technology, logistics and international trade.
The Panama Maritime Authority and the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Taiwan recently signed a letter of intent to promote cooperation and mutual benefit in the area of maritime services. The two countries also have a free trade agreement in place.
