(Prensa.com) Panama defeated 2 to 1 Nicaragua, in an intense match for the Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifier, performed Tuesday night in the new national football stadium in Managua.
Panama scored the first goal eight minutes into the match with a header from Luis Tejada could not stop the Nicaraguan goalkeeper Denis “The Octopus” Espinoza.
The draw came after 14 minutes when captain Panamanian Román Torres scored an own goal when trying to reject a shot of the Nicaraguan Gustavo Barrera.
Panama scored his second goal at minute 5 of the second half with a goal from Blas Perez.
A goal of the Nicaraguan Alex Villanueva was nullified by the referee signaled offside, minutes before the end of the game.
