(Prensa.com) The construction of the Panama Metro is making good progress and will be ready in 2013, it was announced on Wednesday the president, Ricardo Martinelli, following an inspection by the points where the works are carried on Line One
“The Metro de Panama near the Metro Bus will change the lives of Panamanians who spend hardship, rising early with a transportation system that really does not work,” said the president, according to a bulletin of the Ministry of Communication of the State.
During the tour, the President apologized to the public for the inconvenience and dams that cause these jobs. However, he stressed that are necessary for the crystallization of this project, the statement added.
Martinelli turn announced that his government plans to leave the Second Line tendered Metro, a commuter train that will reach the city of La Chorrera and another bridge over the Panama Canal.
Meanwhile, Robert Roy, executive secretary of the Panama Metro, said the works are 15% complete. He added that they develop according to schedule, and generated more than 5 000 indirect jobs.
Metro Line One of Panama will stretch 13.7 kilometers, will connect to the Andes, in the district of San Miguelito, the Albrook bus terminal, a distance of about 23 minutes.
