Panama Independence Day 2010 in Boquete

11/29/2010 By Panama Eric

(Boqueteguide) I missed the dedication of the new walkways around the Central Park in Boquete Panama. I missed the Cabalgata, the horse parade. I missed the night torch parade but I did make it the the marathon Independence Day Parade in Boquete. I was reluctant, too many people, too much traffic , to much rum and seco.

I was told the President of the Republic of Panama was there, if so I missed him too, but it would explain why the new tourist walkways were done on time, or close enough.

I took a few photos.

One of many bands preparing to do their endless marching in the sun this year. It was beautiful in Boquete today.

I wonder if it was his first parade, it will not be his last.

Police Cadets. I asked why they were in Boquete not Panama City. The Parades in Boquete and Volcan are traditionally the biggest celebrations of independence in Panama.

For your listening pleasure some video of the National Police Band in their new blue uniforms. I am not sure why, probably cultural, but the blue uniforms do seem less threatening than the military uniforms of the past. from Boqueteguide.com
