(prensa.com) The Government of Panama announced today that it will send $ 1 million dollars in beef as humanitarian aid for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, an official source.
The grant was unanimously approved by the Cabinet on the proposal of Panamanian President Ricardo Martinelli, according to a statement from the presidency.
At the same meeting, the Vice President and Foreign Minister Juan Carlos Varela “suggested that 40 Panamanian professionals from different disciplines, who are alumni of the Japanese government to join the international team has been deployed to that country to cooperate with the rescue and reconstruction of Japan. ”
According to the source, this proposal also was endorsed by Ministers of State.
Last Friday, Japan was shaken by an earthquake of 8.9 degrees and a subsequent tsunami that caused thousands of deaths and disappearances, as well as extensive property damage, mainly in the north of the island.
