(prensa.com) Vice-President and Foreign Minister, Juan Carlos Varela, met with his Chilean counterpart, Alfredo Moreno Charme, to discuss the initiative of President of Peru, Alan García, to promote a dialogue on integration between five Latin-American countries.
García’s initiative includes a proposed integration between the governments of Peru, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Panama, in order to “facilitate the free exchange of goods and services and free movement of people.”
Varela and Moreno Charme met within the framework of the celebration of the XX Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, held in Mar del Plata, Argentina, from Dec. 3-4, 2010.
Moreno Charme explained the progress of high-level talks convened thus far on the issue, following the official visit of President of Chile, Sebastián Piñera, to Peru in late November.
Meanwhile, Varela expressed the interest of the Government of Panama to participate in this process of dialogue on economic and trade integration.
