(PanamaDigest) Bullets were exchanged between the driver of a stolen Toyota Corolla and police during a public street shooting on Tuesday.
The pursuit began in 5 de Mayo Plaza and finished in the El Marañon neighborhood in Calidonia where police intercepted the car thieves right before the two parties exchanged shots.
The driver of the stolen car, 27-year-old Adolfo Arena Gomez, received a shot to the stomach. Two passengers were arrested and one fled during the shooting. The rightful car owner reported the theft on Monday after she had left the keys in her car while shopping, La Critica reports.
Other notable public street shootings this year include those on the Cinta Costera and in the City of Knowledge and Albrook.
