(Panama Digest) This year’s Carnaval route has been chosen.
The celebration, which Tourism Minister Salomon Shamah says could attract more than 250,000 people, will be .6 miles long, stretching from the Seafood Market to 30th street along the Cinta Costera.
Shamah said that there will be no culecos – the big tanker trucks filled with river water that hose down carnaval-goers – along this route, but that they will be set up nearby so as to avoid muddying and destroying the green areas.
The Carnaval queen will be announced at Atlapa’s Anayansi Theater on February 15.
