(prensa.com) New car sales soared in October, increasing 46 percent as compared to the same period the year before.
The majority of the increase took place at the Panama Auto Show, where 4,939 new units were purchased.
The largest volume of sales was made by Hyundai, which moved into first place ahead of Toyota in terms of sales. The brand sold 1,409 new cars in the month, a record said Petroautos Manager Raúl Abbey. Toyota sold 1,181 units.
Its previous monthly high for units sold was 720, which was in 2008. That record was also set during the Panama Auto Show.
Hyundai has sold 6,325 units to date, an increase of 46 percent compared to the same period last year.
