(Prensa.com) Vice President Juan Carlos Varela signed this Thursday a double taxation agreement with France in a ceremony at the Bolivar Room in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The agreement was signed on behalf of France by Hugues Goisbault, the ambassador to Panama.
According to the ministry, with this agreement, Panama has now signed 12 tax treaties, which exceeds the goal established by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) for the country to exit its list of tax havens.
During the ceremony, the French ambassador emphasized the work done by French Minister of Economy Christine Lagarde and Panamanian President Ricardo Martinelli in order to achieve this agreement.
Lagarde was appointed director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Tuesday.
