Panama and Colombia will exchange databases which include those people most wanted in the organized crime and human trafficking businesses.
Panamanian Vice President Juan Carlos Varela and Maria Angela Holguin, Colombia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, agreed that the goal is to curb human trafficking through both countries’ airports.
Varela said that Panamanian National Frontier Service pilots and intelligence analyst will receive additional training to reinforce security barriers in airports and along the border.
And, Holguin also mentioned that the two spoke of rapidly moving ahead with the signing of a free trade agreement between the two countries, La Prensa reports.
For the moment, Panama remains a source, transit and destination country for women and children trafficked into commercial sexual exploitation.
