(Newsroom Panama) Panama’s economy will have one of the world’s biggest growth rates in 2011, according to projections by the Minister of Economy and Finance.
Minster Alberto Vallarino told the Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, June 11, that the projected growth for the year was 9percent, and had exceeded that level in the first quarter.
Growth for 2012 would be somewhat slower at 7 percent, but still a figure that will make Panama’s economy the envy of many world leaders,
According to Vallarino, the growth is fired by the Panama Canal expansion,construction of the first Metro line, and the project to clean up the Bay of Panama and the development of road infrastructures, including the controversial extension of the Cinta Costera..
Vallarino was participating in the monthly board eeting of the board of the Chamber ofCommerce, Industries and Agriculture.
He said that with the real growth rate of for the Panamanian economy in 2010, was 7.5 percent.
