(prensa.com) The new director of the World Bank (WB) for Central America, , concluded his regional tour this past Wednesday, during which he kept a busy schedule of meetings with officials from the two countries he visited.
Jaramillo met with representatives of the Government of Panama, beginning on Feb. 1, as part of his formal introduction as the new WB director for Central America, said a spokesman for the international entity.
His agenda in the Panamanian capital included meetings with Minister of Economy and Finance, Alberto Vallarino; Vice-Minister of Finance, Dulcidio De La Guardia; Deputy Minister of the Economy, Frank De Lima; and Secretary of Economic Affairs of the Presidency of the Republic, Kristelle Getzler.
In his meeting with Getzler, Jaramillo praised the economic growth achieved by Panama and also spoke of the support that the Bank can offer the country on the subject of competitiveness, reported a source from the Presidency of Panama.
At present, the WB portfolio in Panama includes five projects worth a combined $175.4 million, focused on health, social protection, rural development, environment, and infrastructure.
