(prensa.com) New legislation on minor accidents was postponed today by Executive Decree No. 26 of January 31, 2011, a document stating that the regulations will come into effect from March 3.
With that decree, which bears the signature of the President, Ricardo Martinelli, and the Minister of Government, Roxana Mendez, amended Executive Order No. 963 of December 2010, which stated that the entry into force of the smaller shocks legislation come into effect tomorrow, 1 February.
Executive Decree No. 26 was published this afternoon in the Official Gazette No. 26712-A, so that went into effect after its promulgation.
The director of the Transit Authority and Land Transport (ATTT), Jorge Fabrega, today announced that it would seek to postpone the effective date of Executive Order No. 958 which regulates Law 21 May 2010 on minor traffic accidents public roads, as requested by the insurers. According to Fabrega, insurance companies sought to further postpone the implementation of Act 21 so that the runners could better understand what gives these regulations.
Act 21 establishes, among other things, that minor accidents involved drivers must be removed, or face a fine of $ 50 – road vehicles where the event occurred.
In addition, it is up to fill out a form sent to their insurance without need for a policing part. Only if no agreement reached, motorists could expect a traffic officer.
