Motorcycle riders in Panama now have to wear reflective jackets

12/08/2010 By Panama Eric

(Panamadigest) Executive degree 949 was passed on December 1 and enacted into law two days later in Gaceta Oficial No. 26673-B. The law requires all drivers and their passengers to wear reflective jackets, use directional signals and leave front and back lights on while circulating.  In addition, motorcycle carriers must clearly display their plate numbers on their delivery boxes.

Public Forces, National Civil Protection Service and Transit Authority will be exempt from the reflective jacket requirement, and contrary to previous reports, it seems that motorcycle passengers will not be outlawed yet.
