(Prensa.com) The construction of the observatory began in 2008.
The planets, meteors, asteroids and the moon will be closer to the Panamanians, after the end of last April was the first astronomical observatory opened in Panama.
The observatory is located in the regional center of the Technological University of Panama (UTP) and was built at a cost of $ 600 000.
The highlight of the opening, which occurred last April 29, was when they opened the dome of the observatory where the Meade LX200GPS 14.
There were the rector of the UTP, Marcela Vasquez Paredes, the French ambassador in Panama, Guisbault Hugues, and director of the observatory, Rodney Delgado.
Objectives
With the telescope, Delgado announced that it will observe galaxies that are close to us and what we have tasted.
“We get very far with the telescope,” he said. Delgado explained that the observatory has a pedagogical objective, which seeks to bring scientific research, through astronomy-in primary, secondary and university.
Design
On the ground floor of the building is the observatory, library, virtual consulting rooms and a room for meetings and conferences.
Meanwhile, in the first blast, an astronomical exhibition hall, which exhibits various astronomical topics and historical samples of people who have excelled in astronomy.
It consists also of a projector and two flat screen which presents documentaries and astronomical images, among others. This seeks to create that visitors entering the room with the feeling of being in space.
