(prensa.com) Starting in April, drugs seized by police will no longer be destroyed by burning them in the open at the Cerro Patacón landfill.
The government has purchased three incinerators that will be used to destroy drugs. This comes after several years of criticism from environmental groups about the potential damage caused by burning them in the open.
Security Minister Jose Raul Mulino said the incinerators will be located in Panama, Veraguas and Chiriquí. The government will also have two mobile incinerators that will go into service next month.
