(Moving to Panama) The alliance between Panamanian and American cultures has been strong since the earliest days of the last century. Americans are well liked in Panama, and they have returned this affection in countless ways through the years. Habitat for Humanity Panama was originally established in June of 2003. Project homes were soon underway with the first being completed just a year later in 2004. In the years since, Habitat for Humanity Panama has constructed more than 140 homes.

The goal of Habitat Panama is to respond to the needs of families with limited resources. Most of these families survive on little more than a subsistence wage. Very few have access to any sort of credit system for mortgage lending. This is the essence of the Habitat formula, no outside assistance is required.

Habitat Panama is self-sufficient. It employs a wide range of strategies and alliances to support its building goals. The production and delivery of more than 140 homes in just 5 years provides testimony to the effectiveness of this remarkable program.

Recently, US Ambassador Barbara Stephenson and other Embassy personnel grabbed their tool bags and headed for a habitat project home in Gonzalillo, a section of Las Cumbres. This effort by embassy personnel is an expression of the long standing warmth and cooperation that have characterized US and Panama relations.

Home ownership is as important in Panamanian life as it is to families in the US. When you shop for real estate in Panama, you will find a qualified pool of real estate professionals anxious to help. You will find your soon to be fellow Panamanians to be warm and welcoming. When you buy real estate in Panama the mat outside the door reads, “Welcome home to paradise.
