(Panama America) During 2010, Panama received U.S. $ 2.362 million in foreign investment, an increase which accounted for 33 percent over the previous year.
The Minister of Trade and Industry, Roberto Henriquez, said these results reflect the confidence investors have in an economy with sound macroeconomic fundamentals, positive growth prospects and laws that facilitate and promote foreign investment.
Henríquez attributed this growth to real estate, hotels and investment both in the duty free zone in the Caribbean and the Special Economic Area Panama Pacific.
According to a report by the Comptroller General of the Republic, in 2009 foreign investment was of 1,772 million dollars
