(KDSK.com) If animals could talk, a Monroe County, Illinois cat would have quite a tale to tell.
Piper lives at a small airfield near Valmeyer. She just showed up there one day about a dozen years ago and was so good at chasing the mice away, the pilots adopted her.
One day about six weeks ago, they noticed they hadn’t seen Piper in a couple of days. They also noticed she disappeared around the time they packed up a plane and shipped it off to Panama! That’s where she turned up 28 days later!
And getting there wasn’t easy.
He journey inside a shipping crate took her to New York City, then onto a ship where she traveled to the Panama City through the Panama Canal.
When pilots found Piper in the crate in Panama she was very thin and weak. She was taken to the vet and recovered rather quickly.
Piper did not have access to food or water for 28 days. Her caretakers think she may have survived on rainwater. She arrived home a couple of days ago.
