(PanamaAmerica) New markets like India, Eastern and Central Europe met and expressed interest in the qualities of the Panamanian economy to do business in future investment.
This new interest from other countries took during the speech by President Ricardo Martinelli in the session on “The role of business in development” held at the annual World Economic Forum.
“We take this business event to seek new investments that will allow more Panamanians have a job and improve their quality of life,” said Martinelli.
As part of this business meeting, the President of Panama had several bilateral meetings including with the Executive Director of Group AP Moller-Maersk, Denmark, Nils Smedegaard Andersen, one of the most important users of the Panama Canal who showed interest to establish oil storage facilities in Panama, thus increasing jobs in the country. This company is a conglomerate of businesses shipping goods world’s largest, and currently has over 120 thousand employees.
On Thursday, Martinelli will meet with Secretary General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Angel Gurria, the chairman of Swiss bank UBS, Kaspar Villiger, and President of Emerging Markets Microsoft, Orlando Ayala. Also participate in a session on Latin America, where they will present the presidents of Mexico and Colombia.
