(Panama Gringo) This Gringo comes from the Microbrew rich lands of Boulder, Colorado and spent a semester of College in Belgium, the hands down best beer country on this planet, so you can trust me with the grueling task of drinking every beer in Panama and telling you which one is the best.
After some of the hardest couple months of my life being forced to locate, open, hold up to my mouth and let the sweet nectar trickle down my throat, I’ve finally found the most superior beer in Panama. Cerveza Panama!!! This light golden lager may not tantalize your palate in the same way that Belgian or German ale could, but in 100 degree weather with 99% humidity this is exactly what you need!! Cerveza Panama is a crisp, refreshing beer with a slight wheat smelling aroma and hints of a light corn or cereal taste. It’s was selected in the 2008, 2009 and 2010 Monde Selection in Brussels and widely regarded as the top Panamanian beer from locals. Weighing in at a solid 4.8% alcohol this is the perfect beer for a night on the beach or mingling in the city.
A far superior taste to its Panamanian brother beers, Atlas, Balboa and Soberana this is the only beer you need to try when you come visit this isthmus (For more info on these other beers read here). The only drawback is that you do pay a slight premium for this beer of a prideful name. Cerveza Panama comes in 9.5 ounce bottles unlike the other Panamanian beers which all come in 12 ouncers. As it is usually priced the same at bars and restaurants you are actually getting slightly less beer for your buck if you take this beer, but I can tell you from massive amounts of experience that it’s worth the extra quarter!! A cerveza panama will run you just under $4 for a 6-pack of 12 ounce cans at your local grocer and a mere $0.35 a pop in your slightly smaller bottles. Most bars and restaurants sell it for $2 apiece and you can literally find this beer anywhere in this splendid country!!!
Don’t believe me that Cerveza Panama is the best? Come down here and try one then let me know what you think.
