(prensa.com) Beginning Monday, Dec. 20, authorities will partially restore access to the Centennial Bridge. The announcement was made following an inspection carried out yesterday by Public Works Minister Federico Suárez and his team.
Vehicular traffic on the Centennial Bridge had been suspended over the past week due to landslides that occurred in recent days on one of the access roads.
General Director of national transportation authority ATTT, Jorge Ricardo Fábrega, said there will still be some restrictions for motorists who take that route. For instance, vehicles with heavy equipment are prohibited from crossing the bridge at any time, as the green light will only be given to light-weight vehicles.
The official also explained that the schedule for the traffic flow will be between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. going towards Panama City, and from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. going towards the western sector of the country.
Moreover, Fábrega called on the general public to be patient and understanding, given the fact that the damage to the bridge access point is the result of a natural disaster in the country.
The official added that, according to the estimates, the repairs may take up to six months.
