30 September 2010 – Swedish industrial technology group Atlas Copco AB (STO: ATCO A) said today it has established a distribution company in Panama to offer a wider range of products and closer support to the growing customer base in Central America and the Caribbean.

Atlas Copco Central America SA will market products such as drilling rigs, consumables and parts for both underground and surface operations. It will also offer exploration, construction and ground engineering equipment and compressors.

“We see good business opportunities in this dynamic region, especially in construction,” Bjorn Rosengren, head of Atlas Copco’s unit construction and mining technique, said.

The Swedish group has already delivered drilling rigs for one of the important projects in the region, the expansion of the Panama Canal.
