ASEP announces installation of 72,000 street lights

03/14/2011 By Panama Eric

(prensa.com) The electricity distribution companies in Panama will install 72,000 street lights throughout the country.  This, according to an announcement made by the National Authority of Public Services (ASEP).

“One of the first points that is beginning to look brighter is the Centennial Bridge-Arraiján roadway, after ENSA installed street lights on both sides of the road on a stretch of four kilometers,” said the ASEP press release.

Meanwhile, the remaining part of the road – leading to Burunga – will be completed this year by the company Edemet.

ASEP’s general manager, Zelmar Rodríguez Crespo, highlighted the fact that the entity is committed to coordinating with relevant authorities to provide all Panamanians with greater safety through increased street lighting for public use.

Among the main sectors that will benefit from the installation of street lights include: the stretch from Tocumen to 24 de Diciembre; Villa Belén to Las Mañanitas, road leading towards the La Doña shopping center, in Pacora; stretch leading to the national stadium, end of the Corredor Sur (southern highway), and entrance to Cerro Azul.

They will also install increased lighting along the Cerro Patacón-Centennial Bridge-Burunga road, the entrance to Howard and internal streets, and Puerto Caimito, from the Bridge of the Americas towards Arraiján.
