(prensa.com) ANTONIO VALLEY, Cocle. – The Amphibian Conservation Center in El Valle de Anton (Evacc, for its acronym in English) has a new show for the investigation of these species are endangered.
The center was created in 2005 by the latent threat imposed by a fungus affecting amphibians. These species are displayed in cubicles in a specialized chamber adapted for tourists, and also undergo scientific studies with the help of other centers of international species conservation.
Now, were added as part of the investigation four other species of frogs that were identified by a group of researchers, headed by the Panamanian biologist Edgardo Griffith.
Griffith, a biologist and head of the center, said the new species are: the frog (Atelopus varius), frog Thief (Craugastor evanesco), Horned Marsupial Frog (Gastrotheca horned) and poison dart frog (Andinobate spp).
The new hall, which was done with a $ 200 000 of Minera Panama-will become the new home of four species that have been located in the mountains of the province of Cocle and east of the province of Panama.
This center is considered the first in Central America studying the golden frog and amphibian species. Requires an annual investment of $ 100 000 to ensure its operation, according to its administrators.
