(PanamaDigest) Panama’s 911 emergency system will expand its operations to the province of Chiriqui at a cost of $2.4 million in March.
The expansion includes hiring 55 new paramedics and purchasing at least five more ambulances.
The 911 fleet – which currently services Panama City and the Pacific coastal zone to Cocle – will then have a total of 33 vehicles for 1.9 million people, La Prensa reports.
If the math is correct, that is one ambulance for every 57,758 people.
