2011 Panama Jazz Festival will have four stages

(prensa.com) The gala night of the Panama Jazz Festival will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 12 Jat the National Theatre, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The festival itself will run from Jan. 10-15, at four different sites: the National Theatre, the Atlapa Convention Center, the El Panama Hotel, and Cathedral Plaza.

Artists for the gala evening include: Danilo Pérez padre, Brian Lynch, Paoli Mejias, Conrad Herwig, Claudia Acuña, Harlem String Quartet, Vitín Paz and orchestra, and the París Conservatory, directed by Riccardo del Fra.

On Friday, Jan. 14, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Anayansi Theater of the Atlapa Convention Center, the artists set to perform are: the Global Jazz Institute, the Pan-American Ensemble, Paoli Mejias, and Danilo Pérez, who will present his album Providencia, which is nominated for a Grammy in the category of Best Jazz Instrumental Album.

Meanwhile, from 12:30-9 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 15, there will be an outdoor concert at Plaza Catedral in Casco Antiguo.  Among the artists to perform at this venue are: Carlos Ubarte, the Crossroads High School, the Tonic of Mexico Foundation, the New England Conservatory, and the Vitín Paz Quintet.

Finally, beginning at 10 p.m. at the El Panama Hotel, Daniel García Trío, Alain Pérez, Anita Loynaz, Salsa Meets Jazz with the Sociedad Anónima Orchestra, and Danilo Pérez, are expected to perform.
