(Prensa.com) More than 2 million passengers used Tocumen International Airport during the first half of 2011, Immigration officials said Friday.

Another 184,093 visitors entered the country from Costa Rica through the checkpoint at Paso Canoas in Chiriquí, officials said. The nationalities using the border crossing are mainly Costa Ricans, Panamanians and Nicaraguans, officials said.
Immigration Director Javier Carrillo said that the agency is implementing increased security measures at border checkpoints to deal with the increase in traffic.
